🌐 Safe URL Challenge
Inspect example web addresses and decide which ones deserve caution.
Can you spot the suspicious URL?
Choose the URL you would treat as suspicious. These examples are fictional and are provided only for cybersecurity education.
- Read the real domain: In a URL, the registered domain is more important than a familiar-looking word placed before it.
- Watch for misleading subdomains: Attackers can place trusted-looking words in a subdomain to make a destination appear legitimate.
- HTTPS is not proof of trust: HTTPS encrypts the connection, but it does not guarantee that the website itself is legitimate.
- Slow down: When a link arrives unexpectedly, check the full address before entering passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information.
What to remember
Never judge a link only by its first word, its appearance, or the presence of HTTPS. Inspect the actual domain and consider why you received the link.
